The first unit contains basic knowledge of Yoga its origin, the historical background, Ashtanga yoga and their importance. The second unit deals with the meaning, procedure, precautions, breathing awarenessand benefits of different asana, pranayama and shat karmas. And finally, the third unit discusses about the causes and effects of stress and how to manage non communicable diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, low back pain, bronchial asthma, arthritis through yoga and stress management through various relaxation techniques.
In the practical part, the book has briefly elaborated about Surya Namaskar , Meditation and their benefits.
