Human movement forms the foundation of physical education and sports performance. Understanding how and why the body moves, and how movement can be made more efficient, is central to scientific training and athletic excellence. The disciplines of kinesiology and biomechanics provide this essential scientific base by explaining the mechanical principles governing human motion. This book, Kinesiology and Sports Biomechanics, has been written with the objective of presenting fundamental and applied concepts of human movement in a clear, systematic, and student-friendly manner. It explores the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system, the principles of mechanics, Newton’s laws of motion, levers, force, balance, stability, and their practical applications in sports and physical activities. Special emphasis has been given to linking theory with real-life sports situations so that students, coaches, and practitioners can understand not only the scientific principles but also their relevance in improving performance, preventing injuries, and enhancing movement efficiency. The examples included throughout the chapters aim to simplify complex mechanical concepts and make them accessible to learners at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The book has been designed in accordance with the syllabus requirements of B.P.Ed. program. At the same time, it serves as a reference resource for research scholars and professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of movement analysis and scientific training principles. It is my sincere hope that this book will help students develop analytical thinking about human movement and encourage coaches and physical educators to adopt a more scientific approach in teaching, training, and performance evaluation. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and deep respect to my teacher, guide, and role model, Late Prof. Kishore Kumar C. K., whose constant guidance, inspiration, and encouragement played a significant role in shaping my academic and research journey. His passion for physical education and commitment to excellence have been a guiding light in my career. Though he is no longer with us, his teachings and values continue to inspire me, and this work stands as a humble tribute to his invaluable contribution to my life. Constructive suggestions from readers and experts are most welcome for the improvement of future editions.
